Emily Root concentrates on Estate Planning and Estate Administration. She works with clients to identify and understand their needs. By taking a comprehensive look at a client's assets, financial interests and wishes for their legacy, she can identify the best approach to preserve, transition and distribute wealth.

Ms. Root is technically efficient, detail oriented, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about the complexities of Estate Planning. Her love of learning about and connecting interpersonally with clients helps her identify client goals and objectives so that she can develop the appropriate strategy. Ms. Root's experience in preparing comprehensive estate plans, including wills, trusts, durable powers of attorney and related documents allows her to address even the most complex of issues, ultimately ensuring that client interests and assets are protected.

A valuable resource during challenging times, Ms. Root frequently guides executors and beneficiaries through the proper procedures when administering an estate. She provides guidance for distributions, meeting timelines and, when necessary, working through the courts. Whether planning or administering an estate, Ms. Root is committed to making certain that client interests and assets are protected and that their objectives are met.

Ms. Root's experience as a legal assistant in the litigation department of a New York law firm prompted her interest in becoming an attorney. She subsequently moved to Chicago to attend law school. While in law school, she clerked for the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation and interned at a Chicago law firm concentrating in estate planning and family law.

When not working with clients, Ms. Root enjoys discovering Chicago's eclectic neighborhoods and shops, as well as exploring the restaurant scene with friends.


Ms. Root graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Communication from Denison University in Granville, Ohio. She completed her Juris Doctorate at Loyola University -Chicago School of Law, where she was Senior Editor of the Loyola Consumer Law Review, worked as an academic tutor in civil procedure and graduated cum laude.
