Local Chicago Attorney Appointed Visiting Professor at D. C. Law School

Commercial Transactions and Corporate Entity Focus

Chicago, IL (May 4, 2010) – In mid-August, renowned general counsel and litigation attorney Bruce B. Jackson will join other Chicagoans in the Chicago – Washington D.C. commute. For Jackson, the commute will be to fulfill a one-year visiting professorship assignment at Catholic University of America - Columbus School of Law as “Distinguished Practitioner in Residence”. Jackson has been Of Counsel with the firm of Anthony J. Madonia & Associates, Ltd. since its inception almost fifteen years ago.

“I continue to be challenged by the complexities of today’s business situations. Applying the law to do what is right and maintaining decency and respect throughout the process are principles that every generation needs to understand.” In addition to maintaining a full practice, Jackson has been Adjunct Professor at The John Marshall Law School for the last 8 years, teaching commercial transactions. “I started teaching a course each semester as a way to share my experience and insights with law students. It has been extremely interesting and rewarding to step into the academic environment and influence the learning process through my practical experience.”

Jackson will be teaching “Commercial Transactions” and “Unincorporated Business Corporations” courses this coming Fall. During the Spring 2011 Semester, he will repeat the Commercial Transactions course along with another to be determined by student curriculum demand. Additionally, he plans to use this time to publish an article of academic interest related to commercial transactions. “This is perfect for Bruce” notes Anthony J. Madonia, firm principal. “While we are really going to miss him and his day-to-day contributions, he is in a perfect position to take this on. Bruce has a well-established practice and really enjoys teaching. With support from our team and his accessibility through our technology platform, balancing his client obligations during his trips back to Chicago should be manageable” Madonia continued.

Sharing practical insights with the next generation is invaluable. It also helps keep the professor well-informed as students question and challenge. Jackson sees his assignment as “a win-win-win for the students, the law school and university, and me”.
